I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming eduWEB conference in Atlantic City. I’m in the process of finishing the keynote speech. There have been numerous new tools emerging recently so I’ve completely revamped the speech since the last time a gave it just a couple of weeks ago. One of the themes I’ll discuss is the relevancy of .edu websites as the web continues to evolve. For those of you who didn’t see this on bloghighed, here is a 3:00 video clip on the subject:
In addition, Brad Ward and I will be teaching a preconference workshop called Join the Conversation: Social Media in Higher Education where we will be providing an in depth look at how higher educational institutions can leverage the full power and potential of social media.
And one final reminder, the bloghighed meetup on Monday, July 21 at the Poolside Cafe, located on the 5th floor. See you in Atlantic City.
I too look forward to seeing everyone in Atlantic City. My name is Denis Whelan I work for a company called Intelliworks that provides Relationship Marketing Solutions for Higher Education.
Mark- I am hopeful I will be able to attend your keynote. I really enjoyed the video you shared. One thing I wanted to bring up is that if you can aggregate social networking (facebook, Myspace, Linkedin) and link it to your .edu website and database then you are really on the cutting edge. My company Intelliworks, is actually developing this and it will be released in the short term. Right now our CRM interacts with the .edu website through application and inquiry forms.
We would give you the ability to apply, inquire, and interact with the institution through an application on a social networking site. With all of that said I would really like to get your opinion on linking your website and databases to social networking sites. Thank you again for sharing the though provoking video I am hopeful we get to meet at the conference.
