Out With the Old, In With the New

I spent the last few days  going through a complete redesign of this site.  When I was in Denmark last November, I took some good-natured ribbing from my European friends about the design (or lack thereof) of my site. They were right.  The old design had been around for several years and was definitely showing it’s age.

So please allow me to introduce markgr.com for 2011.  This was the first time in awhile that I have been under the hood of WordPress and the improvements and functionality are impressive.  I am still working through some minor tweaks to improve the usability, but  I think the site is ready for prime-time. (Suggestions for improvement are always welcome.)

One of the many resolutions I have for the new year is to blog more. As I’ve examined my online sharing habits, my blog was not being properly utilized.  As much as I like Twitter, it is not the best place to share ideas given it’s transient nature and 140 character limit.  I think blogging is a much better platform for sharing complex ideas.

The redesign of this site will set the stage for many new initiatives I plan for 2011.  Stay tuned!

Congrats on the new site design. I agree with your point about blogs being the better platform to share complex ideas and believe you’ll find they reach more people with this more accessible design format. Happy new year!

Agreed! Well done. And, we are kindred spirits. I spent the first few days of 2011 poking around and being impressed by what I can do with my WordPress blog. And, like you, my resolutions include more blogging. Thanks for writing this blog, I’m a regular reader.

Looks great, Mark – very clean and user friendly, and embodies you and your “brand” much better. Enjoy your posts and look forward to more in 2011.

    Cheers

    Hey Mark,

I’m a first time visitor and it looks like your blog will provide a lot of value.

The re-design looks cool (although I didn’t see what it looked like before) – are you using the flex theme?

Looking forward to becoming a regular visitor.

    All the best for 2011,

    Cliff
